Who doesn’t have a girl crush on Bobbi Brown cosmetics? Its growing make-up and beauty line has continued to rival the likes of Mac, and though I am torn, their innovation and creativity to launch new campaigns and collections never fails to impress.
So what happens if you marry Bobbi Brown Cosmetics and your love for food?
Leading on from Balthazar’s hugely successful afternoon teas, comes a beautifully creative collaboration with Bobbi Brown, which has most certainly caused a positive stir among make-up and fashion enthusiasts for a glamour-filled afternoon of heavenly treats! Balthazar restaurant in the heart and soul of London’s Covent Garden has been celebrating Bobbi Brown Cosmetics’ 25th anniversary to present a unique afternoon tea experience. When I first heard about the afternoon tea, my automatic reaction was – ‘Wow, I need to go…but it’s probably too expensive for what it is’. However, I was blissfully surprised, and for £25.00 per person, you will not leave the restaurant hungry! I had surprised my sister to the afternoon tea with my family as an early birthday present, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
The afternoon tea invites you to immerse yourselves into a world of beauty – where classic afternoon tea cakes are replaced and transformed into adorable confections, modeled on some of Bobbi Brown’s adored make-up products. Taking five of their most popular and recognised products, the cakes include a rich chocolate and sharp blackberry Sachertorte mirroring the Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner. Girls will know and love their Shimmer Brick which is given an added sparkle with Champagne-infused rhubarb with orange and ginger cream. For those who love their lippy, there is a recurrent and lemon posset macarons which resembles the pot rouge for lips and cheeks. There is the iconic skin foundation stick, which is made from shortbread cake, containing a mango and passion fruit consommé, topped with a deliciously smooth praline mousse encase in chocolate. Finally, there is the limited edition Vintage Red for Balthazar – a stand-out lip colour, flavoured in vanilla and rosewater mousse with financier sponge.
It was safe to say we were utterly full – and entirely satisfied from beginning to end.
And of course, each afternoon tea comes with your choice of coffee or a range of teas, from earl grey to fresh mint to wash it all down. Each and every bite you devour has been created by Balthazar’s head pastry chef, Regis Beauregard. In a statement made by Regis, regarding the ultimate collaboration, he says ‘it’s every chef’s dream’ and ‘it was a very fun but extremely challenging task to take these cosmetic products and make them into something delicious whilst retaining their original beauty’.
When the afternoon tea launched, Bobbi Brown commented:
‘Balthazar is one of my favourite restaurants, and it just happens to be located two blocks from my office in NYC, and the London one is around the corner from my store in Covent Garden. The food is always fresh and delicious – it’s the perfect spot for a great meal.’
The best part – if there was more to boast about this fantastic experience, you’re also invited to arrange a complimentary makeup lesson at the Bobbi Brown Covent Garden store. You can purchase any of the products which were transformed for the afternoon tea.
I can’t fault my experience at Balthazar and for anyone hesitating whether or not to go – take the plunge and treat someone you love to a really enjoyable afternoon tea. Be sure to book it soon, as from September it will have finished!
