Autumn Boots Edit: Must-have Ankle Boots for 2017

So it’s officially autumn, but recent events would have us believe otherwise. Storm Ophelia recently caused a stir, when she turned our skies orange, bringing to life ‘sepia’, one of our fave filters. The weather is all Brits talk about, and let’s be honest, it’s because we have reason to. Everyday, the weather report baffles our minds – do I take a jacket, because it’s cold in the morning, but it’s going to be warm and mild during the day? The nature of the beast is that perhaps the weather is an ode to our wardrobe, and an indication that we can/and we should be allowed to own heaps of extra jumpers, coats and shoes to match the weather.

With autumn underway, and shops packed to the brink with classic layering pieces, there is no better time to invest in the perfect pair of ankle boots, whether it has a slight heel for added height, or an elegant platform to take you through the night. And it goes without saying, as Marilyn Monroe once said:

‘Give a girl a pair of shoes and she can conquer the world’.

Marilyn Monroe is definitely my shoe muse and I admit I have a have a shoe problem, I am an addict – I have countless pairs of shoes of every kind. So for me, the hunt is on and I have been looking through my personal ‘stock’ and you could say I’m in need of a good ankle boot. The classic flat Chelsea boot is a keeper, and last year I finally invested in a pair of knee-high, thigh slimming boots with a small heel. But what my wardrobe does lack is colour, pattern and embroidery.

This year’s catwalk was all about the colours and the textures of what you wear – combining a few options in one look was a must-have feature. Velvet featured, whilst colour blocking was a favourite with Versace. And of course the over-the-knee was modelled by Balenciaga, who opted for the silver-foil look. And whilst you may not be confident to pull off a silver boot, there are elements to be taken for your own good.

So if you’re looking for a classic ankle boot for night or day, I have pulled several key looks which you can buy today! Happy Shopping!
