Standing tall at the 73rd annual Golden Globes Awards in Beverly Hills on Sunday night were the likes of Kate Winslet, Emilia Clarke, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Natalie Dormer in nothing short of British glamour at its very best!
The Golden Globes is the first ceremony to kick off awards season and having blogged about every awards ceremony over the past few years, I never seem to get bored! The Golden Globes is an extravagant star-studded event with a bespoke selection of colourful and jeweled gowns with hair and make-up to match. So how could I not want to cover some of our nation’s most-loved females representing British fashion at its best!
Kate Winslet, won a Golden Globe for her role as supporting actress in Steve Jobs and boy she doesn’t fail to disappoint in the fashion department! Mum of three stole the show in a figure hugging cobalt blue gown with an intricate halter neckline. With a satin finish, her toned figure brags an element of envy to finish off her roaring twenties elegance.
Rosie Huntington-Whiteley was in every sense of the word a ‘golden goddess’. Strutting her stuff in a gold Versace Atelier gown, Rosie shone bright like a diamond – excuse the pun! But congratulations are in order for the gorgeous former Victoria Secret model who revealed her engagement to Jason Statham.
After HBO’s success with Game of Thrones, it was of no surprise that leading ladies Emilia Clarke and Natalie Dormer stormed the red carpet, with a style mimicking their regular costume attire. Emilia was dazzling in a Valentino sheer lace black embroidered gown which had cape-style sleeves. The high neckline, together with minimal jewellery was every bit regal as that of her on-screen character Khaleesi. And to prove a point of high fashion, Natalie Dormer looked breathtaking in a J.Mendel dress and a Judith Leiber clutch.
Who could forget our nation’s favourite period drama; Downton Abbey. Joanne Froggatt, was regal in a mystic periwinkle blue Reem Acra dress with a pair of Chopard pink diamond earrings (thought to be worth an estimated $1million). Joanne’s strapless number had a heart-shaped bodice and cinched waist which oozed timeless glamour and femininity with its chiffon material. Also keeping it simple and ethereal was Lily James, famous for her role as Lady Rose. Lily wore a Marchesa wrap around dress with a backless design and sleeveless, leaving much to the imagination. Lily looked magnificent in this figure hugging beauty and completed the look with nude and subtle make-up.
