As I sat on the train home from work in Canary Wharf, I began to observe the afternoon routine for many commuters which involved gazing into the headlines of the Evening Standard.
Only a few days ago, the New Victoria Beckham store opened the doors London . Victoria Beckham has grown into a well-established fashionista, holding the runway firm in her grasp and creating a sensational fashion label that has seen many celebrities photographed wearing. Victoria Peckham has certainly pulled of her nickname ‘posh’, as her store really has seen a stunning transformation by the prestigious female architect Farshid Moussavi; who also designed the Olympic Park. 36 Dover Street has had a substantial makeover over the past year and her store has resonated in the minds of many, including most fashion editors. The likes of Anna Wintour and Alexandra Shulman have become number one fans.
Victoria has nurtured her new store from birth and it is no wonder that Victoria’s fashion line conquered the industry by storm as her company made £15.4million in 2012, only four years after her first collection was launched. The monolithic, polished concrete staircase is a beautiful central feature with walnut wood, green glass and the diagonal grid ceiling establishing the store with warmth. For a très chic look, Victoria’s designs are no less timeless. Her ready to wear collection is simple and elegant ranging from £900-3,000.
Though the majority of the collection will for me remain behind glass windows; a girl can dream. Not only has designer Moussavi created an effortless and clean aesthetic look, the store also has a scent. Thinking this sounds similar to the likes of Abercrombie and Fitch, Victoria Beckham’s scent is Diptyque’s Feu de Bois candles to be exact. With her family by her side since the opening, Victoria has now officially visited the store since her role as a UN Goodwill Ambassador. Victoria Beckham’s success can only be measured against her role as a leading fashion designer and will no doubt be successful in her new venture.
