The Oscars 2014 is fast approaching and it is a time when my face is gleaming with excitement and sheer amazement at the Oscar nominations to be revealed.
Now being at university, I can find the time to catch up on the latest news surrounding the glimmering scene of the Oscars, and no more apparent than this year as many films I have supported and seen have been nominated for awards. Back at home, staying up all night was often very difficult, though as a fashion fanatic, there was no way my parents could resist my undying temptation to do an “all nighter”.
With this year’s Oscars nominations revealed this week, I was already on guard to read the latest predictions with American Hustle and 12 Years a Slave receiving the most amount of nominations. Recent cinematic gems have lured my excitement to visit the cinema across the new few months, to witness the brilliance and well produced films of this year. I remember staying up all night last year to watch the Red Carpet and the live awards from Los Angeles. As many would know me by now, staying awake can be a challenge but with the anxiety to first see the glimpse of dresses worn by endless stars on the red carpet, it cannot be missed. With nudes, monochromes and embellishment, the hottest trends of last year, I cannot wait to determine what will become of this year’s Oscars.
Jennifer Lawrence’s Dior dress was what the designer does best with a beautifully elegant take on classic Hollywood with a hint of bridal. If Jennifer wears anything close to this number she will make history. With three Oscar nominations under her belt, and up for best supporting actress this year in American Hustle, it will be a surprise should she not win. With stars such as Amanda Seyfried in a fantastic silhouette neckline dress, this sequin embellished dress was both regal and gothic in this McQueen design. One of my other favourite dresses came from Armani, who dressed Jessica Chastain. Nobody could work this sort of dress on the red carpet like Jessica. She allows the dress to let her skin tone shine against her gorgeous red hair. With these dresses to name but a few of the most successful dresses of the Oscars, I cannot wait to see what’s in store.
This year’s nominations for best actress include the fabulous British Judi Dench, Cate Blanchett, Amy Adams, Sandra Bullock and Meryl Streep. The best male category include Christian Bale, Bruce Dern, Leonardo DiCaprio, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Matthew McConaughey.
With the Oscars taking place March 2nd, keep your eyes peeled on my verdicts of the Oscars and of course my reviews of the red carpet fashion.
