Festive lights on London’s famous shopping district, Oxford Street are up, Winter Wonderland is open and pints of mulled cider have been prepared for the festive season, so it can only mean that Christmas is well and truly here. With the countdown just over two weeks to go until Santa attempts to squeeze through the chimney’s of every home in the country, as does the panic to hit the shops begin.
September is too early, October is just being too organised, and November seems like you have ages to go. But when the 1st December hits, retailers drop their prices, and endless gift guides are at your disposable to raid, whilst collecting every catalogue there is to flick through.
The dreaded festive shop is experienced by everyone – especially when you need to buy for your nearest and dearest. I found it really tough this year to buy for everyone I wanted, especially my boyfriend. Maybe buying for boys is altogether a strenuous experience – in more ways than just shopping, but what I needed was my one-stop shop – Debenhams. I have genuinely raided their Christmas gift selection, as it just has everything you could ask for. And if you’re not after something serious, they have the quirky, light-hearted gifts which will add an instant smile to the face of who you’re giving to.
And considering how much there is to buy, with so much choice, it’s only right to reveal the extent to which you will be splashing the cash this Christmas. Money Advice Service estimates that the average consumer (myself included), will spend an average £429 on food, drinks, presents, socialising and travelling.
So considering how much you have to buy, you may seek solace in the high-street giant, that is Debenhams, for his and her gifts.
Here’s my Christmas gift guide for his and her, to get your shop sorted in no time.
